A man was arrested outside one of former President Donald Trump’s campaign events with illegal guns, authorities said Sunday.
Vem Miller, 49, drove to Coachella, Calif. with a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, the Riverside County sheriff’s office announced in a Sunday press release.
Miller, a Las Vegas resident, was arrested without incident, according to authorities. He had been stopped at a checkpoint outside the rally.
“This incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event,” the sheriff’s office said.
Miller was booked at a county jail on two gun charges, cops said.
Trump, 78, has already been targeted by two failed assassins during his 2024 campaign. On July 13, he was wounded by Thomas Crooks, 20, at a rally north of Pittsburgh in Butler, Pa.
About two months later, on Sept. 15, Ryan Routh waited on a Florida golf course with a rifle and plans to assassinate Trump, according to authorities. However, the 58-year-old Routh was spotted by Secret Service agents before he could fire a shot.
