Over 200 retired Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials recently endorsed former President Donald Trump in a “letter to America.” The letter praises Trump for his strong border policies and blames the Biden-Harris administration for increasing illegal immigration and creating the southern border crisis.
In the letter, the former DHS officials emphasized the importance of border security, saying, “The single most important factor when evaluating the candidates should be ensuring the safety and security of the United States…National security has many facets, but it does not exist without enforceable international borders.” The officials also contrasted the “distinctly different track records” between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“The Biden/Harris administration enacted policies that systematically dismantled a proven 27-year bi-partisan border security strategy that prevented crime, both at the border and in towns across America, through deterrence and consequences,” the officials stated. “The appalling results were immediate and will have lasting consequences.”
According to The Post Millennial, the Biden-Harris administration ended the construction of the southern border wall and Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” immigration policy that prevented illegal immigrants apprehended at the southern border from being released into the United States. The retired DHS officials warned that Border Patrol officials have encountered roughly 10 million illegal immigrants under the Biden-Harris administration” and that the “record setting illegal immigration” has “overwhelmed every aspect of border security.”

“Under VP Harris’ watch, idealist political appointees with zero border security experience were empowered to implement disastrous and deadly border security policy for the United States,” the officials said. “The devastating results have handed complete control of our border to the cartels, provided them with astronomical record profits, ballooned legal immigration backlogs, and have left millions of illegal aliens in the country.”
Contrasting the two administrations, the former DHS officials said Trump “respected” and “listened” to the advice and experience of border security professionals. The former officials explained that Trump took action when border security experts told him that illegal immigration helps “empower” the cartels.
“The Trump administration supported policies and programs that reduced illegal immigration, instilled integrity into our legal immigration system and ensured that the U.S. government was doing all we could to control who and what entered our homeland,” the former officials wrote. “The borders of the U.S. were never more secure than they were during the Trump administration.”
In conclusion, the group of former officials said the choice for president is “clear” in 2024 and argued that Trump is the “only candidate” the American people can “trust to secure our nation’s borders.”
