Multiple supporters of former President Donald Trump have reported suffering from a mysterious eye injury after attending a rally in Tucson, Arizona, last week. The mysterious incident has led to questions concerning whether the former president could have been targeted in a “chemical attack” that led to multiple rally attendees suffering from “unbearable” eye pain.

KVOA talked with multiple attendees from last week’s Trump rally and reported that each of the attendees the outlet interviewed claimed to have suffered eye irritation and received medical treatment.

One of the attendees, Mayra Rodriguez, told the outlet, “As soon as we left and we stepped outside, my eyes were burning.” After driving home from the rally, her eye irritation became so painful that she quickly went to a local emergency room.

When she arrived at the emergency room, medical professionals asked Rodriguez, “Are you sure you didn’t get sprayed with something? Your symptoms look like you got sprayed with something,”

The following day, Rodriguez said her symptoms grew worse. “I can’t see anything when I try to open my eyes. I see a bright light,” Rodriguez added. “It hurts, it hurts a lot to open my eyes. I have this cold cloth I put on and take off constantly. It’s horrible.”

In an interview with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), media personality Benny Johnson cited reports of rally attendees who reportedly went “blind” after the event, suggesting that the attendees had “similar either chemical or microwave burns.” Johnson asked Biggs whether there could have been a “chemical or microwave” attack against the former president.

In response, Biggs said, “We just don’t know enough about it. I haven’t gotten a briefing on this, but you had about 20 to 25 people. So if you see these Trump rallies, you’re going to see people right behind Donald Trump when he’s speaking, right? And in this particular case, you had some Latinos, and I know some of those people that were there, and they developed these… and they believed it was probably chemical of some kind.”

Biggs said that while Trump did not seem to have been affected by the strange incident at the Tucson rally, questions continue to circulate regarding what could have caused the rally attendees to suffer mysterious eye pain.

“We don’t even know who all suffered those same symptoms. We don’t know what possibly could have even caused [it],” Biggs added. “It could have been chemicals, maybe microwave, but probably chemicals.”

The U.S. Secret Service told KVOA that it was not aware of the Tucson rally incident but claimed that there was no threat to the former president at the rally.
