The rapper Macklemore faced backlash over the weekend after he encouraged his fans to chant “f-ck America” during a concert in Seattle.
Video posted on X shows the 41-year-old rapper apparently reacting to chatter in the crowd before saying, “Straight up say it, I’m not gonna stop you. I’m not gonna stop you. Yeah, f-ck America.”
Macklemore faced backlash on X over his anti-American comments.
“If you hate America, why don’t you leave?” one user posted.
“If you hate this country, then get tf out. Go find one that represents your ideals. American doesn’t want or need your trash here,” another user wrote.
“@macklemore Why don’t you just move? China, Cuba, and Venezuela would treat you better! No one is obligated to live in a country they hate,” a third user posted. “You won’t be missed!”
Mackelmore’s comments come after the singer released an anti-Israel song titled “Hind’s Hall,” which is the name of a building at Columbia University that students renamed in honor of a Palestinian child who was killed in the war between Israel and Gaza.
The song praised anti-Israel protests and criticized President Joe Biden and law enforcement. Macklemore recently dropped another version of the song in which he calls out Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Hey Kamala, I don’t know if you listening but stop sending the money and weapons or you ain’t winning Michigan. We uncommitted and hell no we ain’t switching positions because the whole world turn Palestinian,” the song says, according to The New York Post.
