A former neighbor of Ryan Routh, the would-be assassin in the latest assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, described Routh’s family as “weird” and claimed that the family had a “live horse in the house.”
According to Fox News, before Routh moved to Hawaii last year, the 58-year-old suspect lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he had a long arrest record. The outlet reported that Routh’s arrest record in Guilford County spanned from the 1980s until 2010, with charges as small as writing multiple bad checks to charges as severe as the possession of a stolen vehicle, felony firearm possession, and multiple counts of possessing a weapon of mass destruction in 2002. The former charges against Routh included the possession of a “binary explosive with a 10-in[ch] detonation cord and a blasting cap.”
Fox News reported that Kim Mungo, a neighbor who told reporters that she had known Routh for roughly 18 years in North Carolina prior to his decision to move to Hawaii last year, described Routh’s family as “weird.”

“He had a horse in the house. I mean, a whole live horse in the house,” Mungo said. “But I could see the guns and stuff and all. They were … oh, I mean, kind of weird. But they didn’t bother me. I didn’t bother them.”
“He stayed in the house,” Mungo added. “I told all my friends but they didn’t believe me.”
According to The Daily Mail, Mungo also told reporters about an incident at Routh’s former house involving a late-night raid by police officers after an 18-wheeler truck with stolen property was found at Routh’s residence.
“It’s just crazy to me,” Mungo said after Routh’s assassination attempt on Sunday against the former President. “He was a good guy. He was sweet. He was quite charismatic. I mean he was gorgeous.”
Mungo emphasized her surprise following Sunday’s assassination attempt by her former neighbor, telling reporters, “Had I not seen the picture of the guy in the news, I would never have known that was Ryan. He was never political.”
