Oran Routh, the son of Ryan Routh, who has been charged with attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, was arrested Tuesday and charged with the possession of “hundreds” of child pornography files.
According to a criminal complaint filed against the 35-year-old, law enforcement authorities seized multiple electronic devices at Oran Routh’s home on Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina. Law enforcement officials noted that the electronic devices were seized while conducting a search “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation.”
Fox News reported that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigators searched Routh’s home as part of the investigation into 58-year-old Ryan Routh, who was arrested on September 15 after attempting to assassinate the former president at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to the outlet, Oran Routh has been charged with both the receipt and possession of child pornography.

The criminal complaint against Routh stated, “A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contains hundreds of child pornography files. These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina. Videos from the series depict minors engaged in sex acts including a video of an adult male engaging in oral, vaginal, and anal sex with a prepubescent female minor approximately 8-10 years of age.”
According to the criminal complaint, federal investigators also seized a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 device from Routh’s residence, which revealed additional child pornography files. The criminal complaint described a video file on the device that showed an adult female “engaging in oral sex” with a young female minor. Authorities also found a messaging application that they believe is used by individuals to “distribute and receive child pornography.”
According to Fox News, Oran Routh’s criminal history includes arrests in 2015 and 2016 for assault on a female individual, driving while impaired, and interfering with an emergency communication.
