The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided the home of New York City Police Commissioner Edward Caban on Wednesday. Three other homes of Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s aides were also raided this week.
Sources told Spectrum News that the homes of New York City Commissioner Edward Caban and Tim Pearson, a top advisor for Adams, were raided by federal agents on Wednesday. According to The New York Post, sources indicated that the raids came as part of a corruption probe into influence peddling.
In response to Wednesday’s FBI raid on Caban’s home, a New York Police Department spokesperson said, “The Department is aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York involving members of service. The Department is fully cooperating in the investigation.”
Following Wednesday’s FBI raids, City Hall Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg released a statement suggesting that law enforcement officials were not primarily targeting city officials.
Zornberg stated, “Investigators have not indicated to us the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation. As a former member of law enforcement, the mayor has repeatedly made clear that all members of the team need to follow the law.”

The New York Post reported that Adams told reporters his administration would “follow the rules” and “comply with any questions” throughout the law enforcement probe.
“As you’ve heard me say over and over again, as a former law enforcement person we will always follow the law and that is what this administration always stood for and will continue to stand for,” Adams said. “Whatever information is needed, we will turn over.”
According to The New York Post, while law enforcement officials have not revealed the full purpose of this week’s raids, sources have indicated that the recent raids are not connected with an investigation into allegations that Adams provided official favors to Turkey in exchange for donations from the country.
In addition to the FBI raids on the homes of Caban and Pearson, the FBI also raided the homes of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks this week, according to ABC 7. The FBI had also previously raided the home of Brianna Suggs, Adams’ campaign consultant, over the investigation into the allegations against the mayor’s connection with Turkey.
According to The New York Post, federal law enforcement officials have currently targeted at least eight of Adams’ top aides in various probes.
