A resurfaced video shows that Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris supported police going door-to-door and seizing firearms from individuals on state lists of prohibited gun owners and people considered a danger to themselves and to others.
According to The Washington Times, Harris outlined her position on gun control during a Democratic presidential primary forum in August of 2019 following two deadly mass shootings in Texas and California.
Asked about her gun control plans, Harris said, “I believe I’m the only one who has said that she will take executive action. So, mine is not just a plan with some plan for legislation. I’m actually prepared to take executive action to put in place rules that improve this situation.”
In the resurfaced video, Harris pointed to her experience as California’s attorney general as an example of what gun control policies she would advocate for as president of the United States. The vice president explained that California “put resources into allowing law enforcement to actually knock on the door of people who were on two lists.”

Harris explained that one list was comprised of people who had been designated by a court as a danger to themselves and to other people, while the second list was comprised of individuals who were prohibited from owning firearms due to a conviction. “Those lists were combined, and then we sent law enforcement out to take those guns,” Harris said.
“We have to do this with a sense of urgency, and we have to act,” Harris added. “Enough with the talk.”
The Washington Times reported that Harris threatened to use executive action to ban the import of “assault weapons,” which she described as “weapons of war.” Harris argued that there was “no reason that they should exist on the streets of a civil society.”
The vice president also threatened to use executive action to mandate comprehensive background checks and take action against gun dealers, according to The Washington Times.
Earlier this year, Harris announced the launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center. The National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center was established to help implement state red flag laws across the country.
According to The Washington Times, the Biden-Harris administration’s National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center is already facing pushback from nearly 20 Republican attorneys general for promoting laws that “suspend fundamental rights under the Second Amendment with no genuine due process.”
