Trump: Young Thug being treated ‘very unfairly’

Former President Donald Trump weighed in Monday on the Young Thug racketeering trial, saying the Atlanta rapper has “got to be treated fairly” during his lengthy court case.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with streamer Adin Ross. They come just two days after a rally in Atlanta, during which he referred to the city as “a killing field.”

Both Trump and Young Thug — whose real name is Jeffery Williams — are defendants in separate racketeering cases prosecuted in Georgia by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Williams is accused of being the co-founder and leader of Young Slime Life. Fulton prosecutors say YSL is a criminal street gang based in south Atlanta. The rappers’ attorneys say YSL is simply the name of the star’s record label. His ongoing 20-month-long trial is the longest in Georgia history.

Trump is charged with conspiring to overturn the 20202 election in Georgia. He has denied wrongdoing.

During Monday’s livestream, Ross brought up what he said was Willis’ “unfair” treatment of Trump, mentioning that his “friend” Williams was also subject to the same treatment.

“And I hear Young Thug is being treated, I heard the name, I heard it from other people where they say he’s being treated very unfairly,” Trump said. “So he’s got to be treated fairly.”

Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to attack Gov. Brian Kemp, calling his crime rate in Atlanta “the worst.”
