The Russian Foreign Ministry said on August 28 that it had added 92 people, most of whom are U.S. citizens, including journalists from The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, to its sanctions list.
The ministry said the move was in response to what it called Washington’s “Russophobic policies” and sanctions imposed on Russian politicians, businesspeople, scholars, entertainers, and journalists following Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The total number of American citizens added to Russia’s sanctions list is now 2,078.
