Rob “The Rabbit” Pitts, the star of Netflix series “Tex Mex Motors” died Sunday. He was 45.
The cause of death was complications from stomach cancer.
Pitts, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, said goodbye to his fans in a YouTube video titled “This Is Goodbye (RIP 7/27/79 – 8/25/24).”
“Don’t be sad for me,” Pitts says in the video. “I accomplished my dream of buying my own store, filming Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life.”
“You know I always have advice, and this time it’s: if your body is telling you something is wrong, don’t stop until you figure it out,” he said. “Ask questions and get answers.”
“I am with him now in Hospice,” Pitts’ videographer Jeff Trahan commented on the video. “He just passed at 21:45 on 08/25/2024. He will be missed and we will never forget him!”
Pitts said he became ill while filming season two of “Tex Mex Motors” and doctors eventually diagnosed his symptoms as stomach cancer in March.
“Since then I have been getting treatments at home and it’s been rough,” he says in the video. “More bad days than good, but hanging in there. I have a lot to live for and life has been going my way.”
In the show, Pitts and business partner Marcos “Scooter” Carrera track down vintage cars in Mexico and bring them to El Paso, Texas to restore them. He was also the CEO of Pitts Truck Service.
Carrera memorialized Pitts in a post on Instagram.
“Rest In Peace Brother, I’m going to really miss you!!!” he captioned a pair of photos of the hosts.
Pitts is survived by his wife, Randi Foraker, and his mother, Kim Pitts.
“Since Robby’s passing, the outpouring of support for the family has been incredible,” his family said in a statement to TMZ. “We are not surprised that his stories touched so many — we had no idea of the depth of each connection he made. We wish to thank his friends and fans for keeping these memories alive and showing the impact of the work he did that always came from his heart.”
The first season of “Tex Mex Motors” debuted on the streaming platform in 2023. It’s unknown when Season 2 will premiere.
