A new report claims that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Republican leaders, “We’re out to get you, you’re dead,” and described former President Donald Trump as a fascist following the July 13 assassination attempt against the former president.
The Washington Post reported that Pelosi’s comments came during a recent interview regarding her new book, “The Art of Power,” which provides new insight into the California representative’s long political career.
According to The Washington Post, Pelosi revealed how she handled Republicans who made fun of the attack against her husband. “Treat everyone as a friend, but know who your friends are,” she said. However, the outlet reported that Pelosi told some Republican lawmakers, “We’re out to get you, you’re dead.”
The Washington Post reported that Pelosi also discussed how multiple first-term Republican representatives from New York invited her to events related to their shared Italian heritage. Pelosi told reporters she responded by saying, “When you’re not there, maybe I’ll come.” Pelosi added, “I do not like you. I’m out to get you, I’m out to get you. Your defeat is my goal.”

According to The Washington Post, Pelosi pounded on a table nine times in the recent interview as she detailed the reasoning for her opposition to President Joe Biden’s campaign following the disastrous debate in June. Explaining that her opposition to Biden continuing as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate was only due to her opposition to Trump, Pelosi said, “My goal in life was that that man would never set foot in the White House again.”
Throughout the interview, Pelosi described Trump as “unpatriotic” and compared him to fascists due to his criticism of mainstream media outlets. When questioned regarding similarities between the title of her book and Trump’s book “The Art of the Deal,” Pelosi said, “Nothing that I do has anything to do with him, except his downfall.”
Pelosi’s comments come after Biden urged Americans last month during an Oval Office address to tone down political rhetoric following the assassination attempt against the former president. “We can’t allow this violence to be normalized,” Biden said in his Oval Office speech. “The political rhetoric in this country has gotten very heated. It’s time to cool it down. And we all have a responsibility to do that.”
