A former student who traveled with Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), on a trip to China in 1995, has warned that the Minnesota governor is a “true believer” in Chinese communism and is “a Moaist to the core.”

According to Alpha News, Walz’s former student, who identified himself as “Shad,” described his trip to China with the Minnesota governor, saying, “It was almost a daily revelation of how much he adores the communist regime.”

Alpha News reported that Walz made frequent visits to China for over a decade while teaching at a high school as part of a program affiliated with Harvard University. The outlet reported that Walz’s first trip to China was in 1989 and that the Democratic vice presidential candidate was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square Massacre, during which the Chinese government brutally killed student protesters.

According to The New York Times, Walz visited Tiananmen Square after the massacre and reportedly did not condemn the Chinese government’s violent actions. The Wall Street Journal reported that Walz married Gwen Whipple five years later on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Walz’s wife claimed that he “wanted to have a date he’ll always remember.”

Walz previously claimed to have visited China “about 30 times” over the following decade as part of his sponsorship of summer trips for students. According to The Post Millennial, Walz was also a visiting fellow at a Chinese university.

As a former student who traveled with Walz, Shad told Alpha News that the Minnesota governor was very supportive of China’s communist ideology. “There was no doubt he was a true believer,” Shad stated. “I’ve been trying to tell people this for 30 years. Nobody wanted to listen.”

Shad claimed that Walz also purchased multiple copies of “Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung” by former Chinese Chairman Mao Zedong, who killed tens of millions of Chinese citizens under his communist dictatorship. Shad said, “At night, we’d go out, we’d walk the street fairs. We’d be buying souvenirs and Tim was always buying the Little Red Book. He said he gave them as gifts … I saw him buy at least a dozen on the trip.”

Pointing to the Minnesota governor’s own political record, Shad said Walz is a “Maoist to the core and should not be underestimated.”

“If there was any doubt about what I’m saying just look at the policies enacted by his administration like the country’s worst abortion law, anti-free speech, the riots,” Shad added.

Shad warned that people need to be aware of the similarities between the phrases the Harris-Walz campaign uses, such as “the politics of joy” and “unburdened by what has been” and the communist ideology advocated by Mao.

“People need to have their eyes wide open,” Shad said. “The snitch hotline in Minnesota is straight out of CCP. Tim Walz is a very bright guy. None of this by accident.”
