A new report reveals that the Defense Department under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris has paid millions of dollars to outside organizations to promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies and initiatives.

According to documents provided to The Daily Wire by the Functional Government Initiative, the Biden-Harris administration has attempted to increase race-based policies, such as race-based career advancement programs, through partnerships with outside consulting firms and academic institutions. The Daily Wire reported that the new documents show taxpayer funding was given to outside organizations to help the military hire candidates based on race and sex, advise the Pentagon on DEI policies, and combat any resistance to DEI policies.

In a statement to The Daily Wire, Peter McGinnis, a Functional Government Initiative spokesman, criticized the Department of Defense for prioritizing political and controversial policies over military readiness.

“The U.S. and its allies are facing challenges and threats all over the globe. Despite the increased concern for military preparedness, the DOD continues to prioritize DEI initiatives,” McGinnis said.

McGinnis added, “Rather than maximizing readiness training to ensure a capable military, the DOD’s training seems calculated to foster sowing internal discord with aggressive efforts to promote controversial ideologies. Americans join the military to serve their nation and protect the homeland, not to sit through sensitivity training. The DOD owes them better.”

According to The Daily Wire, documents show that the Defense Department also paid academic institutions to establish career pipelines based on race and sex, which ultimately put men and white individuals at a disadvantage.

The Department of the Navy paid $760,000 to the University of Missouri Kansas City to create a program prioritizing women and non-white students in STEM who were applying for jobs with the Defense Department.

The designers of the program admitted, “To meet our equity-focused programmatic goals, campus internship selection will be equitable such that qualified applicants from underserved and underrepresented cohorts … will be provided first choice.”

Cornell University was given roughly $202,000 “to provide Diversity training that is mission imperative to ensure readiness and addressing discriminatory behavior from a cognitive perspective.” The Daily Wire reported that the program was intended to prepare 35 Air Force Materiel Command employees to train around 70,000 employees on “diversity and inclusion at work” and other DEI policies.

According to The Daily Wire, the Defense Department also paid BCT Partners, a DEI consulting agency, almost $2 million to develop a “DEI Action Plan” for schools run by the Defense Department and paid the RAND Corporation an undisclosed amount for its “Research and Analysis Support for the Department of Defense Board on Diversity and Inclusion” project.
