Former President Donald Trump mocked George Clooney’s betrayal of President Joe Biden in a video posted Thursday morning on Truth Social.
Trump’s post came after the Hollywood star publicly called for Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race in a New York Times op-ed on Wednesday.
“We are not going to win in November with this president,” Clooney wrote. “On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate. This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and congress member and governor that I’ve spoken with in private.”
On Thursday, Trump shared a video that combined scenes featuring Clooney from the 2009 film, “Up in the Air,” and a recent Biden interview to mock the recent turn of events.
The video begins with Clooney saying, “So although I wish I were here with better news, the fact is that you and I are sitting here today because this will be your last week of employment. This is not an assessment of your productivity. Try not to take this personally.”
Following the video clips from Clooney’s film, the video concluded with a puzzled-looking Biden saying, “Well, I just had a bad night.”
Prior to posting the video mocking Biden and Clooney, Trump issued a scathing response on Truth Social to the Hollywood star’s sudden reversal of support for the president. Describing Clooney as a “fake movie actor,” Trump said the actor “turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are.”
Trump criticized Clooney for claiming in his op-ed that Biden was a “hero” who “saved democracy in 2020.”

Trump wrote, “No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions.”
The former president argued that instead of saving America’s democracy, Biden “brought our Democracy to its knees.” Trump added that Clooney should “get out of politics and go back to television.”
Clooney’s op-ed also drew criticism from other social media users. Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, criticized the Hollywood star for waiting so long to expose Biden’s cognitive decline, saying, “What a hero George Clooney is for coming forward 3 weeks after his fundraiser to declare Joe Biden a vegtable.”
Social media influencer Brandon Tatum also commented on Clooney’s sudden change of heart after previously raising money for Biden. He wrote, “With George Clooney publicly asking for Biden to step down, will he pay back the $30 million to the donors he conned into giving Joe just 3 weeks ago?”
