Donald Trump Jr. shut down a news reporter at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday after the reporter tried to label former President Donald Trump as a “divisive figure” just 48 hours after he narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

According to The Daily Wire, Trump Jr. appeared to be open to answering a few questions from MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff before the reporter tried to get the former president’s son to agree that the 45th president was a “divisive figure.”

“I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all. I think the media created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia, Russia collusion, they said he was a traitor. They went after him in every which way possible,” Trump Jr. said. “If the media actually starts being an honest broker, talking about the things that he did, the prosperity he brought, the peace deals that he signed around the world rather than the disaster we’re living right now, I think you’d do everyone in the country a big favor.”

In response to Trump Jr.’s answer, Soboroff shifted gears to the topic of illegal immigration and asked what the former president’s immigration policies would be if he is elected to another four years in the White House. Soboroff asked if Trump would implement policies such as “separating 5,000 children deliberately from their parents.”

“You mean like the Obama administration?” Trump Jr. replied, pointing to former President Barack Obama’s immigration issues. Soboroff quickly shot back, “You know they didn’t do that, sir,” which led to Trump Jr. sarcastically saying, “Sure.”

When the MSNBC reporter continued to question whether the former president would institute a “family separation policy,” Trump Jr. quickly shut the reporter down.

“It’s MSNDNC, so I expect nothing less from you clowns even today,” Trump Jr. stated in reference to the assassination attempt against his father on Saturday. “Even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait; you couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense, so just get out of here.”
