Former President Donald Trump was rushed off stage at a political rally Saturday evening after a failed assassination attempt. Trump later confirmed he was shot in the head, leaving him bloodied but miraculously still alive.

Video of the assassination attempt spread like wildfire on X moments after Secret Service agents surrounded President Trump in the wake of the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Secret Service also confirmed the assassination attempt against President Trump, writing in a statement that a shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue.”

The agency said Secret Service personnel “neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased.”

“US Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and the former president is safe and being evaluated,” the service wrote in a statement.

At least one Trump supporter was killed during the assassination attempt, officials said, and two others are in critical condition.

Moments after being shot in the head, Trump stood up with blood on his face and raised his fist in the air, shouting, “Fight, fight, fight!

An image of Trump with his fist in the air, blood on his face, and an American flag waving behind him was posted on X.

Just five days before the assassination attempt of Trump, President Joe Biden reportedly told donors at a private call that it’s “time to put Trump in the bullseye.”

As support for the former president and top contender in the 2024 presidential election poured in on social media, Elon Musk, billionaire entrepreneur, posted on X, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

“Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt,” he added, as many drew comparisons to Roosevelt’s infamous “Bull Moose” speech.

Roosevelt was shot during a speech in 1912. Like Trump, Roosevelt responded defiantly to the assassination attempt, telling the crowd, “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot.”

“It takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose,” he added.
