A new report claims that the Secret Service has urged former President Donald Trump’s campaign to stop holding large outdoor rallies in the aftermath of the attempted assassination against the former president at an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Sources familiar with the matter told The Washington Post that Secret Service agents have reportedly relayed concerns to Trump’s campaign advisors over the possibility of holding large outdoor rallies in the future.

The Washington Post noted that Trump’s campaign is currently looking into large indoor venues, such as sports arenas, that can hold thousands of people for future rallies. A source close to the former president said the campaign did not currently have any plans for large outdoor venues.

According to The Washington Post, while the former president’s campaign advisors noted that indoor rallies are much more expensive than outdoor rallies, an anonymous campaign official claimed that indoor venues are safer.

“Obviously with an indoor venue, you have a capacity,” the campaign official said. “It doesn’t pack the same punch. There’s something about being at one of those outdoor rallies.”

The Washington Post reported that Trump’s advisers notified the Secret Service earlier this year that his campaign was planning on holding large events on a regular basis and that additional protection and assets would be needed for adequate security. However, requests from Trump’s security detail were reportedly rejected by the Secret Service.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) told Fox News that it “would be a shame” if the Secret Service forced Trump to stop holding outdoor campaign rallies.

“I think people enjoy going to them and I think, you know, you can get more people outdoors than indoors,” Comer stated. “He attracts a big crowd, obviously. I think the president will do what the president wants to do.”

The “End Wokeness” X account described the news as “unreal” in a post on social media. “Secret Service is now asking the Trump campaign to stop doing outdoor rallies,” End Wokeness tweeted, “How about you do your f*ing jobs?”

Sharing a picture of The Washington Post’s story, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) said, “If I saw this in The Babylon Bee it’d make far more sense. The idea that they’d tell Trump to stop holding rallies is embarrassing — for the Secret Service.”

Federalist CEO Sean Davis warned that the Secret Service’s reported attempt to convince Trump to stop holding outdoor rallies was a “direct threat from the regime.” Davis added, “If he doesn’t stop trying to win, they’ll make sure the next attacker doesn’t miss. We all know what they’re doing.”
