A U.S. Marine veteran is in stable condition after being placed in a medically induced coma due to injuries he sustained during the assassination attempt against former President Donald Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
According to The New York Post, 57-year-old Marine veteran David Dutch was identified as one of the two men who were injured during Saturday’s assassination attempt against the former president. Dutch was reportedly struck once in the chest and once in the liver by Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old would-be assassin, according to a Facebook statement released by the Marine Corps League.
The New York Post reported that medical professionals performed surgery on Dutch and placed him in a medically induced coma. However, Dutch has since been listed in stable condition.
According to The New York Post, Marine Corps League District 8 Vice Commandant Matt Popovich announced Dutch’s condition on Sunday after Pennsylvania State Police identified Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver as the two men who were injured at Saturday’s rally.
“I’m sure everyone has seen the news and are appalled at how divided we have become,” Popovich said. “Well, it has finally hit home to the League.”

“He has had one surgery and undergoing another this morning,” Popovich stated. “He is currently in an induced coma.”
On Sunday afternoon, Pennsylvania State Police Col. Christopher Paris told reporters that both Dutch and Copenhaver were in stable condition, according to The New York Post.
Paris told reporters, “These victims and their families are certainly in our thoughts today.”
The Post Millennial reported that in addition to the injuries sustained by Dutch and Copenhaver, 50-year-old retired fire chief Corey Comperatore died from injuries he received while protecting his family from the shooter’s bullets at the Trump rally.
