Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. issued a major apology on Tuesday to former President Donald Trump after a video was leaked that revealed a portion of a private phone call between the two candidates.
According to The Hill, the two candidates spoke on the phone prior to the former president’s announcement of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his 2024 running mate during the Republican National Convention. The leaked video captures part of a conversation between the two candidates on the potential dangers of vaccines. In the video, Trump can also be heard telling Kennedy about his phone call with President Joe Biden following Saturday’s assassination attempt.
“I agree with you, man. Something’s wrong with that whole system, and it’s the doctors you find,” Trump can be heard saying at the beginning of the video. “Remember I said I want to do small doses. Small doses.
“When you feed a baby, Bobby, a vaccination that is like 38 different vaccines, and it looks like it’s meant for a horse, not a 10-pound or 20-pound baby,” Trump continued. “It looks like you’re giving, you should be giving a horse this, and do you ever see the size of it?”

Trump then told Kennedy that he would “love” for the independent candidate to “do something.”
“I think it would be so good for you and so big for you,” Trump added. “And we’re going to win. We’re way ahead of the guy.”
The former president also told Kennedy about the conversation he had with Biden after being injured by a would-be assassin at his Pennsylvania rally. Trump described it as a “very nice” phone call.
“You know he called me, and he said, ‘How did you choose to move to the right?'” Trump said. The former president told Kennedy that he turned his head to read a chart about illegal immigrants pouring into the United States under the Biden administration.
“I just turned my head to show the chart. And something rapped me — it felt like a giant, like the world’s largest mosquito,” Trump added. “And it was, it was a bullet going around.”
Taking ownership of the leaked video, Kennedy released a statement on X, formerly Twitter, explaining that he was “mortified” that the video was posted and apologizing to the former president.
“When President Trump called me I was taping with an in-house videographer. I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately,” Kennedy tweeted. “I am mortified that this was posted. I apologize to the president.”
