An illegal immigrant has been arrested and charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Florida after reentering the United States following deportation by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection earlier this year.
According to a press release by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Jose Chan, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested in Florida last Thursday by police officers on charges of sexual battery. The press release noted that the 14-year-old girl reported the alleged sexual assault attack to her family and was transported to a local hospital.
“The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Guatemalan man in the country illegally with sexual battery on a fourteen year old girl,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said in the press release. “The girl disclosed the abuse to family members who took her to HCA Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital.”
The press release noted that the department conducted an investigation into the incident and that Chan has been accused of “sexually assaulting the girl at her home” on February 25.

“A medical examination of the victim showed a positive finding for sexual abuse,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office stated. “Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab results also found evidence of the girl’s DNA on Chan, via buccal swabs obtained from the defendant.”
According to the sheriff’s office, the FBI was able to confirm Chan’s identity due to his prior deportation by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on February 9, 2024.
The Daily Wire reported that Chan currently remains in the Okaloosa County Jail; however, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has requested custody of the illegal immigrant.
According to The Daily Wire, reports of the 24-year-old illegal immigrant allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl come as a number of criminal actions have been attributed to illegal aliens across the country in recent months. As an example, the outlet shared that Texas police officers arrested an illegal immigrant last week who was accused of killing two people at a Chick-fil-A location.
