Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, sent a letter on Sunday to President Joe Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Conner, urging the physician to testify regarding his past medical assessments of the 81-year-old president, as well as alleged private business dealings between O’Conner and the Biden family.
Comer’s letter to O’Conner comes after a Saturday report that claimed White House visitor logs showed a Parkinson’s specialist had visited the White House multiple times throughout the Biden administration to meet with the president’s physician. In his letter to Biden’s doctor, Comer expressed concerns regarding how O’Conner’s medical assessment of Biden could have been influenced by private business dealings O’Conner had with the president’s family.
“After a concerning debate performance by President Biden against former President Donald Trump on June 27, journalists have rushed to report on what Americans have seen plainly for years: the President appears unwell,” Comer wrote. “Americans question President Biden’s ability to lead the country, and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating circumstances surrounding your assessment in February of this year that ‘President Biden is a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old-male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.'”
Outlining the concerns of the Oversight Committee, Comer highlighted a recent report that claimed O’Conner had “never recommended that Biden take a cognitive test.” Comer also questioned an apparent contradiction between White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s claim that Biden had not received a medical evaluation since February and Biden’s claim that he was examined by a doctor after CNN’s presidential debate.

“The statement by the White House Press Secretary and President Biden appear inconsistent, and the Committee seeks to understand the extent of your role at the White House at this time,” Comer wrote. “Given your connections with the Biden family, the Committee also seeks to understand if you are in a position to provide accurate and independent reviews of the President’s fitness to serve.”
In Sunday’s letter, Comer claimed that prior to serving in his current position, “Dr. O’Conner was involved with the Biden family’s influence-peddling schemes.”
Comer claimed that the Oversight Committee recently obtained evidence that showed both O’Conner and James Biden were involved with Americore Health, LLC. Comer explained that James Biden used Americore funds to pay Joe Biden $200,000, despite the company facing financial difficulties.
Comer added, “During his transcribed interview, James Biden confirmed Dr. O’Connor provided him counsel in connection with the alleged work he was performing for Americore.”
