An elderly supporter of former President Donald Trump is in critical condition after being run over by an ATV in a “politically motivated” attack in Michigan on Sunday, according to police officials.
According to a press release issued by the Hancock Police Department, police officials responded to three incidents that “appeared to be politically motivated” in Hancock, Michigan, on Sunday.
“Two of the incidents involved vehicles that were intentionally vandalized,” the press release stated. Police officials added that the same suspect in the vandalism incidents also ran over an “80-year-old male who was posting a political sign in his yard.” The Hancock Police Department said the suspect ran the elderly man over with an ATV “allegedly with intention to do harm.”
According to The Daily Wire, the driver of the ATV reportedly started by removing the elderly man’s yard signs. When the elderly man attempted to put the signs back in the yard, the suspect ran him over with the ATV.
The Daily Wire reported that the 80-year-old victim was transported to the hospital due to serious injuries, including a brain bleed. The Hancock Police Department noted that the victim “remains in critical condition.”

In a press release, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office announced that the 22-year-old male suspect believed to be responsible for Sunday’s attack and vandalism incidents was “found deceased with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound” on Tuesday.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office noted that prior to the discovery of the deceased suspect, the Hancock City Police Department had received a message from someone with the same address who “stated that they want to ‘confess a crime involving an ATV driver within the last 24 hours’, and further to ‘send someone to pick me up.'”
When law enforcement officials responded to the caller’s address, they discovered the suspect had been killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After obtaining a search warrant, the police seized the ATV, the suspect’s clothing, and electronic devices.
“The crimes reported in the city of Hancock appear to be politically motivated, involving victims who displayed Trump election signs as well as law enforcement appreciation stickers and flags commonly referred to as “thin blue line” paraphernalia,” the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Sunday’s politically motivated crimes come just a little over a week after Trump was almost assassinated at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
