A Connecticut man was arrested in West Virginia after sheriff’s deputies said he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl he had met online.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office charged Richard Nolan Tillotson, 24, with nine counts of third-degree sexual assault, according to Capt. J.J. Ruble. He was being held in lieu of a $90,000 bond and was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Thursday morning, West Virginia judiciary records show.
Ruble said Tillotson had returned to the United States on military leave from the Army when he met up with the juvenile. Tillotson was apprehended at the Microtel Inn & Suites in Princeton, W.V., on Sunday.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
