Twenty-seven additional stores — 15 of them in Ohio — were added to the hundreds of Rite Aid locations that have closed since the national pharmacy chain filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization in court in October 2023 to help reduce debt and deal with lawsuits. At that time, the company mentioned more than 2,000 Rite Aid stores; now Rite Aid’s website shows 1,606 locations, 143 of which are in Ohio.
WHIO reported two Rite Aids in Dayton were closing recently, and it took just over a month for them to shut down from the announcement. It is not yet known when the St. Marys location will close.
No other area Rite Aid stores appear on the recent closings notice. Other stores in Northwest Ohio affected by the decision are located in Bowling Green, Defiance, Oregon, Tiffin and Toledo.

Jun. 19—ST. MARYS — A Rite Aid store in St. Marys, located at 1502 Executive Drive, will close after a notice of additional closing stores was filed Monday in Rite Aid’s bankruptcy case in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey.
