“Deadliest Catch” deckhand Nick Mavar has died as a result of an unspecified medical emergency, multiple outlets confirm.

The 59-year-old fisherman died Thursday afternoon after suffering the emergency at a boatyard in Naknek, Alaska, the Bristol Bay police chief confirmed to Deadline.

First responders rushed Mavar to Camai Medical Center after getting a 911 call from another person at the boatyard, according to People. “Life saving measures” provided by responders and hospital staffers were unsuccessful.

Deadline said “natural causes” were to blame for Mavar’s death.

Mavar appeared in nearly 100 episodes of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” over the course of 16 years, during which he served as a right-hand man for Captain Sig Hansen aboard the F/V Northwestern.

Mavar left the program in late 2020 after his appendix ruptured onboard — a scary scene that played out in an episode the following year.

He was also seen on “Deadliest Catch: Siberian Winter” and “Deadliest Catch: The Bait.”

Mavar later learned the appendix he ruptured had a cancerous tumor. The reality star never returned to any of the series.

Mavar leaves behind his wife, Julie, whom he married in 2021.
