President Joe Biden’s administration considered using “school children” to register likely left-wing voters and pursued taxpayer funding to make it happen, emails shared with the Daily Caller revealed.

Originally obtained by Protect the Public’s Trust, the emails showed that Department of the Interior (DOI) officials had a plan in 2022 to provide voter registration materials to Native American children at Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools.

A survey conducted by the African American Research Collaborative that year showed Native Americans preferred Democrat House candidates at the time.

“Department leadership is proposing having BIE send home voter registration cards with students to give to their parents,” BIE team lead Jennifer Wiginton wrote in one internal email, according to the Daily Caller.

DOI attorney Joshua Berg said the taxpayer-funded plan was developed after Biden’s Executive Order 14019, which required federal agencies to “evaluate ways in which the agency can, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, promote voter registration and voter participation.”

Berg elaborated on the department’s plan, saying that he and his team had “developed a plan to distribute voter registration applications at BIE schools so that school children [could] bring home voter registration applications to their parents and/or guardians.”

The voter registration operation would also provide students with “return envelopes with pre-paid postage so that parents and/or guardians [could] mail in their completed voter registration applications directly to the corresponding elections office in their state.”

Berg also contacted DOI Deputy Assistant Secretary Eric Werwa in an effort to secure funding for the voter registration plan, the Daily Caller reported.

A DOI spokesperson told the outlet that “there was no program to distribute voter registration materials to children attending BIE schools.”

“What they have done is weaponize all federal agencies on behalf of President Biden’s reelection campaign,” Republican Wisconsin Rep. Bryan Steil, chair of the House Administration Committee, said regarding Biden’s Executive Order 14019. “As we see the actions taken by this administration to leverage taxpayer dollars for political purposes, that should be concerning to all citizens.”
