A mother was mauled to death by a pack of aggressive dogs that attacked her and her children outside a Georgia middle school on Thursday.

According to WALB, 35-year-old Courtney Williams was killed by a pack of dogs on Thursday at a bus stop located behind Brooks County Middle School. A Facebook post shared by Crystal Cox, Williams’ sister-in-law, noted that three children were involved in Thursday’s dog attack. While Cox shared that two of the children were fine other than being “shook up and still processing things,” Williams’ sister-in-law shared graphic photos of Williams’ son Kayden, who was severely injured in the dog pack attack.

Cox explained that Kayden attempted to protect his sister from the dog pack during the incident. “By doing so he saved her but took on the dogs himself,” Cox wrote. The graphic photos shared by Cox on Facebook reveal multiple injuries on the young boy’s head, arms, and legs.

Cox also shared that Williams’ other son was able to flag down a man to help the family fight off the dog attack and transport the children to a local hospital. Describing him as an “angel,” Cox said the man “helped fight the dogs off and manage to get the kids in his truck to hospital.”

According to a statement by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that was obtained by WALB, responding police deputies discovered multiple “aggressive dogs” at the scene of the attack.

“When deputies arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property,” the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. “It was determined the juveniles had already been transported to a local hospital by a private citizen. Deputies subsequently located the body of Courtney Williams, white female, 35 years of age, in the yard of the residence.”

WALB reported that while officials have not disclosed the breeds of the dogs involved in Thursday’s brutal attack, neighbors in the area had previously complained that aggressive dogs needed to be removed from the neighborhood.

“People dump dogs all over the county and no one can get help with them because there’s no county animal control. Praying for this woman’s family. This is so sad,” a neighbor told WALB. “I do feel for the family and for the kids because now they are going to have to celebrate Mother’s Day without their mother.”

The New York Post shared a picture of Williams on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a photo of her child who was hospitalized in Thursday’s dog pack attack.
