Police authorities have confirmed that two individuals were killed and three others were injured on Wednesday in a workplace shooting in Chester, Pennsylvania.

According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, Delaware County officials noted that the five victims involved in Wednesday’s shooting incident were shot by a disgruntled employee at a family-owned linen business.

ABC 6 reported that Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said the two individuals who were killed in the shooting “lost their life just by showing up at work today.”

“This is a story that plays out too often across the United States of America,” Stollsteimer told reporters during a Wednesday news conference. Describing the incident as “an absolute tragedy,” he explained, “A disgruntled employee has walked into a linen shop — the Delaware County Linen shop behind us — and shot five people, five coworkers.”

According to Fox News, Stollsteimer asked the public to pray for the three individuals who were injured in Wednesday’s shooting.

“Two are deceased, three are at the hospital. I’m asking everybody in this region who is listening today to pray for them right now,” Stollsteimer said. “They are in serious condition and we are hopeful they are able to survive.”

Fox News also cited officials who said that one of the victims was in critical condition.

NBC 10 Philadelphia reported that police officers from Trainer, Pennsylvania, stopped the shooter’s car and that the suspect had been taken into police custody following the shooting.

While the identity of the suspect was not immediately released, Stollsteimer confirmed that the suspect formerly worked at the linen shop. Stollsteimer also noted that law enforcement officials found no additional threats to public safety.
