A new study shows that the foreign-born population, comprised of both legal and illegal immigrants, now accounts for 15.6% of the total population of the United States. The study showed a huge increase in immigration under President Joe Biden’s border policies.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, the foreign-born population “hit new record highs” in March, with roughly 51.6 million legal and illegal immigrants in the United States. The independent research organization noted that since March of 2022, the foreign-born population has increased by 5.1 million individuals, representing the “largest two-year increase in American history.”
The Center for Immigration Studies reported that the foreign-born population increased by approximately 6.6 million people in 39 months under Biden’s administration. The organization added that the unprecedented increase of legal and illegal immigrants under the Biden administration is almost equal to the growth of the foreign-born population in the nine years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The number of foreign-born individuals who have entered the United States under the Biden administration is equal to almost 170,000 legal and illegal immigrants entering the United States every month since Biden’s inauguration, according to The Post Millennial.

The Center for Immigration Studies reported that roughly 58% of the increased immigration is due to the unprecedented level of illegal immigration that has occurred under Biden. Additionally, the Center for Immigration Studies noted that only 46% of legal and illegal immigrants who have entered the United States since March of 2022 are currently employed.
Based on current statistics, the Center for Immigration Studies warned that the foreign-born population in the United States could increase to 62.5 million by 2030 and eventually to 82.2 million by 2040. The independent research organization explained that such an increase would result in the foreign-born population growing “larger than the current combined populations of 30 states plus the District of Columbia.”
The Center for Immigration Research explained that the increase in the foreign-born population represents the net growth of the number of legal and illegal immigrants in the United States, noting that the number of legal and illegal immigrants who entered the United States over the past few years was “much higher but was offset by outmigration and natural mortality among the foreign-born already here.”
“There also is some undercount in this data, so the actual number of foreign residents in the United States is larger,” the Center for Immigration Research added.
