Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. described President Joe Biden as a “much worse threat to democracy” than former President Donald Trump during a Monday interview on CNN.

Kennedy’s criticism of Biden came during an Monday night interview appearance on “OutFront” with CNN host Erin Burnett.

“I can make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy,” Kennedy told Burnett. “And the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history, the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech, so to censor his opponent.”

Kennedy pointed to a recent case he won in the federal Court of Appeals and another censorship case currently before the Supreme Court, claiming that both cases highlight the Biden administration’s censorship efforts. The independent candidate also claimed that Biden started censoring him just 37 hours after Biden’s inauguration in 2021.

“No president in the country has ever done that,” Kennedy said. “The greatest threat to democracy is not somebody who questions election returns, but a president of the United States who uses the power of his office to force the social media companies, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, to open a portal and give access to that portal to the FBI, to the CIA, to the IRS, to CISA, to NIH to censor his political critics.”

Kennedy also told Burnett that Biden was the first U.S. president to use his “power over the Secret Service” to prevent a political opponent from receiving Secret Service protection due to “political reasons.” The independent presidential candidate then accused Biden of “weaponizing the federal agencies.”

After highlighting Biden’s censorship of political opponents and weaponization of government agencies, Kennedy said, “Those are really critical threats to democracy.”

After Burnett tried to shift the conversation to focus on Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election, she asked the independent candidate, “So, just to be clear, you’re saying you could make an argument that President Biden is a worse threat to democracy than Donald Trump?”

Kennedy said he could “absolutely” make the argument that Biden was a greater “threat to democracy” than Trump. “What president in history has ever tried to censor political opponents?” Kennedy asked. “What president has weaponized the federal agency?”
