A Democrat activist was charged Monday with election fraud for removing political campaign materials from multiple homes in the city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

WHBL reported that the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s office filed a charge against 68-year-old Deb Klock, a resident of Plymouth, Wisconsin, for removing campaign materials from multiple Sheboygan homes in February. The outlet noted that a doorbell camera video showed the Sheboygan County Democratic Party activist removing campaign materials promoting Jesse Roethel, a Sheboygan Common Council candidate.

The court filing against Klock confirms that the 68-year-old Democrat has been charged with election fraud for defacing a campaign poster in February. Klock’s first court appearance is currently scheduled to take place on April 15.

According to WHBL, Klock told law enforcement authorities that she works with the Democratic Party and admitted that she removed campaign materials from 5 homes in Sheboygan. The Democrat activist reportedly claimed that she has participated in political campaigns ever since former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Sheboygan. She also claimed to have been trained on appropriate campaign actions.

The “Take Back Sheboygan County” noted that Klock’s recent election fraud allegations stem from her work on behalf of Sheboygan Alderman Zach Rust’s reelection campaign.

In a statement obtained by WHBL, Roethel, Rust’s opponent, said, “This campaign has been a great experience for me and I will not let the actions of a few people with questionable values and ethics detract from the honor it has been to campaign for the 8th district seat on the Common Council.”

Addressing the allegations against the Democrat activist, Roethel said election fraud does not represent “the values that make Sheboygan and the 8th district a great place to live.”

“Those are not Sheboygan values,” Roethel added. “Sheboygan values dictate that we offer forgiveness and forget if you own up to your shortcomings, admit you were wrong, and promise to do better.”
