A video of Wednesday’s incident shows a man in a face mask, a black hooded coat, and black pants repeatedly stabbing a man with a large blade as bystanders urged the man to stop attacking the victim. One passenger can be heard screaming, “Stop! F-cking stop it now!”
As the man continues to stab the victim, a passenger can be heard contacting the police for help. At the end of the video, the passenger can be heard telling police, “I’m on the train to Beckenham Junction, and this man’s stabbing someone on the train.”
Prior to Thursday’s update, the British Transport Police had issued an appeal to the public to “come forward” with information regarding Wednesday’s stabbing incident in order to help the authorities locate and arrest the suspect.
“Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was stabbed at Beckenham Junction,” the police stated. “At around 3.56pm on 27 March, we received reports of two men fighting while entering a train at Shortlands railway station.
