Multiple people were shot Wednesday at a parade in Kansas City, Missouri, while celebrating the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowl win.
Following the shooting incident, the Kansas City Police Department released a statement on Twitter saying, “Shots have been fired around Union Station. Please leave the area.”
NBC News reported that Kansas City Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins confirmed one person was killed, three individuals were in critical condition, five individuals were in serious condition, and one individual had non-life-threatening injuries as a result of Wednesday’s shooting incident.
The police department also provided an update later on social media, explaining that the shots were fired “near the garage” of Union Station. The police confirmed that “multiple people were struck” and that two armed individuals were taken into custody.

Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, shared another video allegedly showing Kansas Chiefs fans tackling a suspect as he was running away from the scene of the shooting. “The fans could be seen heroically tackling the suspect as he ran away,” Rugg tweeted. “Shortly after the man was tackled, police swarmed the area where they found a gun.”
Following the shooting incident, Governor Laura Kelly (D-Kan.) released a statement on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “At the end of the Chiefs rally, shots were fired near Union Station. I have been evacuated and am out of harm’s way. I encourage everyone to follow instructions and updates from @kcpolice. Please stay safe.”
Drue Tranquill, a Chiefs’ linebacker, encouraged people on social media to join him in prayer for the victims of the “heinous act” that took place on Wednesday. He tweeted, “Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”
Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Chiefs, also tweeted that he was “praying for Kansas City.”
