The White House confirmed Monday that President Joe Biden’s upcoming physical exam will not include a cognitive test despite the growing concerns about Biden’s mental fitness.
During a press conference on Monday, reporters asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if the Biden administration believed that a cognitive test would be a “legitimate idea” for the White House to consider as part of the president’s physical exam.
“I’m just gonna say what Dr. O’Connor said to me about a year ago when the report came out last year obviously on his physical,” Jean-Pierre told reporters.
“The president proves every day [in] how he operates, how he thinks, by dealing with world leaders, by making really difficult decisions on behalf of the American people – whether it’s domestic, whether it’s national security,” she added. He shows it every day on how he thinks, how he operates. That is how Dr. O’Connor sees it, and that’s how I’m going to leave it.”
As reporters continued to press for answers regarding the White House’s perspective of Biden potentially taking a cognitive test to demonstrate that the president has the mental capacity to continue serving the American people, Jean-Pierre shared her personal opinion on Biden’s mental fitness. The press secretary claimed that Biden continues to be “sharp” and “on top of things.”

“When we have meetings with him, with his staff, he is constantly pushing us, trying to get more information, and so that has been my experience with this president,” she added.
Jean-Pierre’s defense of Biden comes after Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report on Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. The report described Biden as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”
Hur’s report, which outlined multiple examples of Biden’s “fuzzy,” “hazy,” and “faulty” memory, has led to increasing concerns regarding Biden’s mental capacity to continue serving as president of the United States. A poll conducted after the Special Counsel’s report found that 86% of Americans think Biden is too old to serve another four years.
