An illegal immigrant was arrested Sunday for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old female minor and for the alleged robbery and stabbing of another victim.
In a Facebook post, the Kenner Police Department announced that the Louisiana police force arrested Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana, a 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Honduras, on Sunday.
“He was arrested for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, First-Degree Rape and Aggravated Assault.” the department stated. “The arrest came as a result of two separate investigations.”
The Kenner Police Department explained that law enforcement officials labeled Castellanos-Orellana a suspect last week in a first-degree rape and aggravated assault case involving a 14-year-old female minor.
During the Kenner Police Department’s investigation, the police department worked with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, who issued a federal ICE detainer for the illegal immigrant, according to the department’s Facebook post.
The Kenner Police Department explained that Castellanos-Orellana was arrested Sunday after committing an armed robbery and stabbing a victim. “He was taken into custody on scene and booked accordingly,” the department stated.
WVUE reported that Castellanos-Orellana allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times in both his face and back after demanding the victim hand over his property. According to law enforcement officials, the stabbing victim was transported to a hospital in the area and was in stable condition.

“Illegal immigrants continue to be a challenge to local law enforcement for many reasons,” Police Chief Keith Conley said. “Lack of access to data, false identification and language barriers put local law enforcement at a huge disadvantage.”
Conley warned that law enforcement officials are often not able to verify information regarding illegal immigrants’ names and dates of birth. The police chief noted that the illegal immigration challenge is a “financial drain” on law enforcement budgets supported by taxpayer funding and a “drain on police manpower.
Addressing the recent incidents involving Castellanos-Orellana, Conley said, “In a 25-day period, this illegal alien caused terror in our community. We are glad he is off our streets, but will he be back? Will he have a new identity? What other crimes has he committed since he crossed our borders?”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Governor Jeff Landry (R-La.) shared that he was praying for the families who were impacted by the actions of the “undocumented criminal.”
“This man should never have been in Louisiana!” the governor stated. “We must close our borders and keep our communities safe!”
