Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson urged the “men of Texas” to defend the state after the Supreme Court ruled Monday that President Joe Biden’s administration can remove razor wire the state constructed at the southern border to reduce illegal immigration.

In a fiery statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, the former Fox News host claimed that “everyone in power” in the United States has “decided to destroy the country” by refusing to secure the border between the United States and Mexico. Carlson also urged Texas residents to take action and defend their own state since the federal government continues to allow the country to be “invaded.”

“So it’s unanimous: everyone in power, from the White House, to the hedge fund managers, to the Supreme Court of the United States has decided to destroy the country by allowing it to be invaded,” Carlson tweeted after the Supreme Court’s decision on Monday. “That leaves the population to defend itself. Where are the men of Texas? Why aren’t they protecting their state and the nation?”

Monday’s 5-4 ruling by the Supreme Court vacated a lower court’s ruling, which previously prevented the federal government from removing the razor wire that Texas installed at the southern border.

The feud between the federal government and the state of Texas over the installation of razor wire stems from Operation Lone Star, an initiative implemented by Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) in March of 2021. The governor ordered 30 miles of razor wire to be installed near the Rio Grande to prevent illegal immigrants from continuing to illegally cross the border in record numbers.

According to data provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents had more than 2 million encounters at the border in 2023 and more than 2.2 million encounters in 2022.

After the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration on Monday, Abbott issued a statement on social media, declaring, “This is not over.” Abbott claimed that the razor wire installed by the state serves as “an effective deterrent” to illegal border crossings. The Texas governor also claimed that Biden “encourages” illegal immigration.

“I will continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property,” Abbott concluded.
