“Pawn Stars” creator and lead star Rick Harrison is grieving the sudden loss of his son Adam, who recently died of an overdose at age 39.
The reality star, 58, shared a photo of himself and Adam on Instagram late Friday night.
“You will always be in my heart! I love you Adam,” Harrison wrote.
Harrison’s representative confirmed Adam’s cause of death with the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday. Sources previously told TMZ the family only learned of Adam’s death earlier that day, though it’s unclear when exactly he died.
The specific circumstances surrounding his death are also unknown. What substances were involved in the overdose have not been disclosed, nor has the location where Adam was found. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department confirmed to TMZ that an investigation is underway.
“Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam,” Harrison’s rep said in a statement issued on behalf of the family. “We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss.”
Little is known about Adam who, unlike his older brother Corey, rarely if ever appeared on the History channel reality show, which debuted in 2009 and centers on the Harrison family’s World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Adam is said to have worked at shop at one point before the show’s premiere, but stepped away to join a separate trade. Some have reportedly identified Adam as a plumber, though his field has not been confirmed, according to TMZ.
Adam and Corey are Harrison’s sons through his first marriage to ex-wife Kim. The reality star is also father to son Jake with his second wife, Tracy.
“Pawn Stars” has so far aired more than 600 episodes over 21 seasons, the latest of which premiered last summer.
