A 14-year-old boy is accused of bringing a loaded gun to a South Boston school, according to police who arrested the juvenile.
Boston Police officers on Tuesday afternoon responded to a report of a found weapon at UP Academy Charter School of Boston at 215 Dorchester St.
School staff had been alerted that a student might have a gun. Staff then took the accused student out of class, and found a firearm in his backpack.
UP Academy Charter School staff then contacted Boston Police to take custody of the gun, which was fully loaded.
The 14-year-old boy was placed under arrest and charged with: delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm; delinquent to wit unlawful possession of ammunition; and delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds.
The boy is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
