One person died after a shooting near Auburn on Friday evening, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after 8 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to 911 calls reporting a shooting at the Watermark Apartments on Military Road South in unincorporated King County, according to Deputy Mike Mellis.

Deputies responded with numerous patrol units, K-9 tracking dogs and a helicopter, along with medics. The Sheriff’s Office also received support from the Federal Way Police Department, a neighboring jurisdiction.

The shooting victim died at the scene. No information about the victim was immediately available, but Mellis said a volunteer chaplain was on scene assisting friends and family of the victim as needed.

As of Saturday morning, no suspects had been arrested.
