Former President Donald Trump, the top contender for the 2024 GOP nomination, said he was buying a pistol during a campaign stop in South Carolina on Monday.

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung posted video of the moment on X, formerly Twitter.

“President Trump purchases a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina!” Cheung wrote.

“I want to buy one,” Trump said, referring to a Glock handgun. “I want to get that.”

“Isn’t Glock a great gun?” Trump asked as he posed for photos with his supporters.

X erupted over Trump’s purchase of the popular handgun.

“Trump just bought a Glock after being arrested 4 times. He has the urban vote locked up,” one user wrote.

“BREAKING: Trump announces he has lost his new Glock in a shock boating accident on the way to his rally and therefore cannot be charged over it,” Veteran Jack Posobiec posted.

“I’m voting for the guy who carry’s a Glock!” another user wrote on X.

Trump’s pistol purchase comes after President Joe Biden once again made moves against the Second Amendment, announcing the formation of a new “gun violence prevention” office in a move that apparently seeks to bypass Congress to push additional gun control efforts supported by Democrats.

“Look, while we push — we push for Congress to do more, we’re going to centralize, accelerate, and intensify our work to save more lives more quickly,” Biden said during remarks on Friday. “That’s why this new White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention — it’s what it’s designed to do. It will drive and coordinate a government and a nationwide effort to reduce gun violence in America.”

“And let me be very clear: If members of the Congress refuse to act, then we’ll need to elect new members of Congress that will act. (Applause.) Democrat or Republican,” he added. “Look, folks, there comes a point where our voices are so loud and our determination so clear that our effort can no longer be stopped. We’re reaching that point — we’ve reached that point today, in my view, where the safety of our kids from gun violence is on the ballot.”

This was a breaking news story. The details were periodically updated as more information became available.
