Spectators at Yankee Stadium draped from a balcony a massive flag emblazoned with the words “TRUMP OR DEATH” during a game on Wednesday.
The huge flag was unfurled during a rendition of “God Bless America,” video of the moment shows.
Reactions to the flag on X – formerly Twitter – were mixed. One user called it a “MAGA moment,” referring to one of former President Donald Trump’s campaign slogans “Make America Great Again.”
“MAGA Moment at Yankee Stadium during the National Anthem, ‘TRUMP or DEATH’ Flag Displayed!” the user wrote.
Journalist Laura Loomer also praised the display, writing, “WATCH: My friend @dioncini sent me this video of himself and some friends dropping a ‘TRUMP OR DEATH’ flag at the @Yankees game last night! Very cool!”
Others mocked the flag and Trump supporters, including one user who wrote, “So the magats are flying ‘trump or death’ flags? I mean, I guess that is their business. Who am I to argue their decisions?”
“People with the Trump or Death flags… Is that a promise? You pinky swear?” another X user wrote.
The bold display comes amid rising political tensions as the 2024 presidential race heats up. Former President Trump is still dominating in the Republican primaries, maintaining a double-digit lead over competitors like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
President Joe Biden is running for reelection despite widespread concerns over his health and age, increasing the odds of a Trump-Biden rematch. Biden’s top competitor in the Democrat primaries, Robert Kennedy Jr, launched his campaign earlier this year.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently warned that the establishment in Washington, D.C., is “speeding towards assassination” of Trump.
Carlson made the alarming prediction during an appearance on podcaster Adam Carolla’s show.
“What do you think the future holds?” Carolla asked Carlson. “Are they going to let Trump be president?”
“They protested him. They called him names. He won anyway. They impeached him twice on ridiculous pretenses. They fabricated a lot about what happened on January 6 in order to impeach him again. It didn’t work. He came back. Then they indicted him. It didn’t work. He became more popular. Then they indicted him three more times and every single time his popularity rose,” Carlson said.
“If you begin with criticism, then you go to protest, then you go to impeachment, now you go to indictment and none of them work, what’s next? I mean, you know, graph it out, man,” he continued. “We’re speeding toward assassination, obviously, and no one will say that, but I don’t know how you can’t reach that conclusion. They have decided, permanent Washington, both parties, have decided that there’s something about Trump that’s so threatening to them that they just can’t have him.”
