New images provide a potential glimpse into the Biden administration’s plan to provide ID cards for illegal immigrants as large waves of migrants continue to be released into the United States.
The new images, first obtained by Fox News, follow previous reports concerning the ICE Secure Docket Card program that Immigrant and Customs Enforcement claimed will “modernize various forms of documentation provided to provisionally released noncitizens through a consistent, verifiable, secure card.”
According to Fox News, illegal immigrants who arrive at the southern border and are released into the United States are often provided with multiple documents.
Based on the images Fox News received of the new ICE Secure Docket Cards, the cards have space for a photograph of the illegal immigrant, the ICE logo in the top left-hand corner, and a QR code that can be used for various information and security details.
ICE previously explained that the ID cards will have “cutting-edge” security, a photo of each migrant, and biographic information in order to “improve current, inconsistent paper forms that often degrade rapidly in real-world use.”
According to Fox News, the ID cards could be used for scheduling meetings with ICE and checking in for appointments. While ICE has claimed that the ID cards could be used to determine both the identity of illegal aliens and whether illegal aliens are eligible for deportation, many conservatives have expressed concerns that the ID cards would increase illegal immigration issues.
“ICE is a federal law enforcement agency, not the DMV,” National Immigration Center for Enforcement President RJ Hauman told Fox News. “ICE should be arresting, detaining, and removing those who come here illegally, not doling out social services.”
In a post on X, Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) blasted ICE, claiming the government agency should be “arresting, detaining, and deporting” illegal immigrants instead of providing them with ID cards and releasing them into U.S. communities. “Joe Biden’s border crisis continues to put Americans LAST,” he stated.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), a Republican presidential candidate, also blasted the Biden administration, stating, “This Biden border invasion has led to asinine ideas like giving illegal aliens ID cards and allowing blanket work waivers to those coming here illegally.”
