14-year-old boy dies after shooting in Norfolk, man arrested

A 14-year-old boy who was shot Sunday afternoon in Norfolk has died, and a 27-year-old man has been charged, according to police.

Albert J. Sutton of Norfolk was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless handling of a firearm, according to a news release. He’s being held without bond in the Norfolk city jail.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. at a home in the 5300 block of Wyngate Drive, near the intersection of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Military Highway. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

Detectives have not released any further details.
