The former Capitol Police Chief who was working during the January 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol told former Fox New host Tucker Carlson that the events surrounding the riot appear “to be a cover up.”

“If I was allowed to do my job as the chief, we wouldn’t be here today. This didn’t have to happen. Everything appears to be a cover up,” Steve Sund told Carlson in leaked video obtained by The National Pulse. “Like I said, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but when you look at the information intelligence that [they] had, military had, it’s all watered down by intelligence to deny National Guard support in advance. I’m denied National Guard while we’re under attack for 71 minutes.”

“You ever been in a fight? A fight for a couple minutes wears you out. It wears you out. My officers were fighting for 80 minutes,” Sund added.

Carlson questioned if officials were “hiding the intelligence” relating to Jan. 6.

“And that’s what I’m getting at,” Sund responded. “Could it possible be that [they] kind of wanted something to happen? It’s not a far stretch. It’s when you start putting everything together and thinking about the way this played out.”

“What was their end goal? You look at what’s happening: was that their end goal? I don’t know,” he said.

Carlson said the aftermath of Jan. 6 has benefited the Democrat Party while hurting the country at large.

“As a cop of 30 years, I’m a ‘rule of law’ type of guy. There’s a reason that Lady Justice is depicted with a blindfold. As soon as you take the blindfold off, the fairness of our legal system goes out the window. And that is exactly what has happened. They have stripped that blindfold away from Lady Justice,” Sund added.

This was a breaking news story. The details were periodically updated as more information became available.
