A U.S. military chorus honored a late soldier with a “perfect tribute” on “America’s Got Talent,” video shows.
The 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus — a group of singers from North Carolina — won over the judges during an audition that aired Tuesday, July 11.
The paratroopers dedicated their performance to the late Spc. Elijah Crawford and other service members who have died. During their audition, the group marched onto the stage and performed a “military cadence, a work song that is composed of a call and response,” NBC wrote on its website.
Then the singers transitioned to a rendition of “My Girl” by The Temptations, which led to rave reviews.
“You sound great together,” judge Heidi Klum said in video from the show. “The harmonizing is amazing. I loved it. It was beautiful.”
“It was the perfect tribute to your friend who you lost,” said fellow judge Simon Cowell, adding that he enjoys seeing people who are passionate during their auditions.
The paratroopers moved on to the next round — and earned a shoutout from the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division.
“I am so proud of our incredible paratroopers,” Maj. Gen. Christopher C. LaNeve wrote on Facebook.
The military chorus is based at Fort Liberty in North Carolina. The Army post, formerly called Fort Bragg, is roughly 55 miles south of Raleigh.
