Dozens of illegal immigrants arrived in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to Gov. Greg Abbott, who bussed the migrants to the so-called “sanctuary city.”

“Texas’ small border towns remain overwhelmed and overrun by the thousands of people illegally crossing into Texas from Mexico because of President Biden’s refusal to secure the border,” Abbott said in a statement. “Los Angeles is a major city that migrants seek to go to, particularly now that its city leaders approved its self-declared sanctuary city status. Our border communities are on the frontlines of President Biden’s border crisis, and Texas will continue providing this much-needed relief until he steps up to do his job and secure the border.”

According to NBC News, the group of 42 migrants included at least eight children and several elderly individuals. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, the illegal immigrants were given food, shelter and legal assistance at a nearby church.

Immigration advocates and city officials said the group included migrants from Venezuela, Guatemala and Honduras. At least two were of African descent and one of Asian descent, the officials said.

Mark Green (R-Tenn.), House Homeland Security Committee chairman, recently warned that there is evidence revealing migrants with ties to the Chinese military have been released by the Biden administration in the United States.

“In terms of the verification that the individuals released into the United States have ties to the PLA came from a sector chief and I’ll leave it with that at this point,” Green said during a press conference on Wednesday. “We have a classified briefing coming up in the very near future.”

Twenty-four Republican governors released a joint statement in May pledging to assist the state of Texas in controlling the border crisis after receiving Gov. Abbott’s calls for assistance. The Republican governors also lauded the Texas governor for his continued effort and recent actions in dealing with the border crisis.

“The federal government’s response, handling the expiration of Title 42, has represented a complete failure of the Biden Administration. While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe,” the governors’ joint statement read.
