Martha Stewart, the lifestyle guru and media mogul, will be featured on the cover of the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The full gallery of photos was shot by renowned photographer Ruven Afanador in the Dominican Republic
Stewart, who reaches over 100 million fans each month through her magazines, television shows, books, and products, is the epitome of an influencer. Her accomplishments include founding Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, hosting an Emmy Award-winning television show and writing 99 lifestyle books. Before her success in the media industry, Stewart worked as a model during her teenage years and even collaborated with big-name brands such as Chanel and Unilever.
Stewart discussed the historic photo shoot during an appearance on “Today” on Monday.
The Dominican Republic served as the backdrop for Stewart’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue photoshoot, and she stayed in luxurious accommodations provided by Casa de Campo Resorts & Villas. There are many beautiful beaches, delicious food, and exciting activities in the Dominican Republic, making it a perfect destination for a photo shoot.
“To be on the cover at my age was a challenge and I think I met the challenge,” Stewart said. “For me, it is a testament to good living. I think that all of us should think about good living and successful living and not about aging. The whole aging thing is so boring.”
“I hope all women really get it together. Women have gone through a tough time for the last ten years, and recently with the pandemic and the ‘Me Too’ movement and all of that stuff, we’ve really sort of been battered around. And taking care of the families, the responsibility, working at home, you know, it’s been tough. I hope it does give people, women especially, an opportunity to revisit their lives and get with the picture,” she added.
