Fox News Books is preparing to release its newest title, “Unbroken Bonds of Battle,” by Marine Corps combat veteran Staff Sgt. Johnny Joey Jones.
A veteran with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Jones’ life was changed in 2010 when an IED ended his career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. Both of Jones’ legs were amputated above the knee in the wake of the blast, and after a challenging recovery period that he survived with the help of his brothers and sisters in arms, Jones dedicated his life to working with military veterans.
Fox News Media told American Military News in an email that Jones’ book features “unfiltered and authentic conversations from across all branches of the military” and “honors the true American heroes that not only defend this great nation, but protect their fellow warriors.”
Jones said people have urged him to write a book about his story for years, but he always believed “the amazing collection of people and warriors who’ve become a part of my life” were the most important part of his story.
“Each of them with inspiring and heroic stories of their own,” Jones said. “It’s fitting that my first book is a telling of their stories, how they’ve affected my life and how their experience in serving this country shows the need for bonds on and beyond the battlefield. Unbroken Bonds is a book for, by and about patriotic Americans and what it truly means to be your brothers’ keeper.”
“Unbroken Bonds of Battle” is the second installment in Fox News Books’ Modern Warriors franchise, designed to spotlight “those who have dedicated their lives to protecting the freedoms and the people of the United States of America.”
“Featuring unfiltered and authentic conversations from across all branches of the military, Jones honors the true American heroes that not only defend this great nation, but protect their fellow warriors,” Fox News Media said. “With powerful lessons woven throughout these personal oral histories, along with a scrapbook of candid photos and an exploration of life, loss and even hunting, ‘Unbroken Bonds of Battle’ will serve as a patriotic tribute to the tightknit community bonds built upon of faith, family and service.”
“Unbroken Bonds of Battle” will be available Tuesday, June 27. Ahead of its release, Jones will anchor Fox News Channel’s 8 p.m. ET show from May 30 through June 2.
