At least three people were killed on Monday after an active shooter opened fire in Farmington, New Mexico, police said. The attack reportedly took place at a First Presbyterian Church.
In an update posted on Facebook, the Farmington Police Department said there are “multiple civilian victims,” including at least three who were killed in the attack. Two officers were also shot and are in stable condition.
The gunman was “confronted and killed on scene,” police said.
“At this time we don’t believe there is a second suspect. All lockdowns have been lifted. Original post:

At this time, the details we have are that multiple officers from the Farmington Police Department were involved in an officer involved shooting. One suspect was confronted and killed on scene,” the post said.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.
“If anyone has any immediate information on this incident, please call dispatch at 505-334-6622.
While the incident is being investigated, Dustin Avenue is shut down between Ute Street and Apache Street. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes of travel,” it continued.
Earlier this month, another gunman fatally shot one woman and injured four others in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident led to a chaotic, eight-hour manhunt that ended with the suspected gunman’s arrest.
“This was a horrible act of gun violence, but equally horrifying is that we know that this is not unique in our country,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, according to CNN. “We need more actions (for) the rights of our citizens to go about their lives, to be able to go to a doctor’s office, to a supermarket, to a gas station or to their school without the threat of being gunned down.”
This was a breaking news story. The details were periodically updated as more information became available.
